The Legend of Pally McStabStab

Anyone have a match?

We all decided to try a different tavern as the kettle was starting to become a little too familiar.  settled on the laughing goblin out by the docks.  Place was a real dive.  A lot of strange people there but the bar keep was a good chap.  Our paladin of course insulted him by using his nickname "Fat-Mar" but the monk soon remedied that with a little friendly banter.  He told us how the lighthouse had gone dark and no one knew quite why.  The town was starting to see some financial trouble because of the lack of shipping.  Just as we were about to leave a group of dock workers burst in and we had to talk them down to avoid an all out brawl.  We agreed to check it out and that seemed to help people not lose their minds.

After some bartering with a local for an interesting ride on the ferry we were able to get to Thorn island where Sokol Keep stands.  The servant Rorin was there waiting for our arrival as he had gotten word from the black fist guards that were stationed there.  Good fellow gave us a key and told us we had the run of the keep.

After some investigating we found Igan Sokol private room.  That's when weird things started happening.  Lamps falling, Books flying from shelves, and other strange phenomenon.  This place definitely had other worldly guests.  Maybe it was them or maybe just dumb luck but we found a journal which had some rambling from Igan that proved very beneficial.

Finally found an entrance to a hidden undergound complex.  After much examination and a dangerous time with some very slippery rocks we made it to a shrine that was to some old god of lore.  We were attacked by a horde of undead that this old evil had brought about and we managed to make it out alive.  Poor Igan was not so lucky as he had also found this vile place and perished.

Seems something we did was correct as shortly after we returned to the surface the light came back on.  Glad to be rid of this place and all it's strange ways.

More Kidnappings

So we were just about ready to go out and get more info outside of Phaln when a gnome by the name of Rilo Leadstopper shows up at our table.  His daughter had been kidnapped by the Black Fist Guards and thrown in some secret prison.  We felt sorry for the gnome not to mention he gave us 50GP and a fine looking magnifying glass so we took the job.  He led us to the entrance of the prison which was not very large but was definitely not very pleasent.

We were able to sneak into the prison without being seen at first.  The prisoners had to be "persuaded" to keep quite as not to give us away.  One of the the Bard had to knock out which is pretty amazing for a baggy panted flute player like him.  When we went into the second room is when things got interesting.

There were pillars of stone that gave off light and scared the crap out of anyone who got close.  We found the gnomes daughter and was getting her out when a huge slug like creature came at us and we had to start fighting.  Then the guards came in from behind but we got them cornered in the entrance to their room so it wasn't anything that we couldn't handle.

Just when we thought we were in the clear an elf shows up from some group called The Order of the Gauntlet and demands we give her back the gnomes daughter.  after a little persuasion we convince her to take the daughter back to her father but she takes a map that the daughter had hidden away.

A Shocking Evening at the Kettle

We were sitting at the Kettle in the middle of talking about what our next move should be when a Half-Orc comes up to our table.  He says his name is Buhrell Cash from yet another group called The Emerald Enclave and starts this wild tale of how everyones life is in danger.  Claimed someone had a powerful magic item that was dangerous.  We thought he was a little bit of a crack pot but humored him and agreed to talk with folks at the inn to see if we could help find it.

After talking with some guy eating like it was his last meal, a couple old women looking for a good time with our paladin and an aloof dragonborn we finally found our people.  It turned out to be a dwarf and a human.  After a little back and forth all hell broke loose.  Suddenly blue lighting started zapping people in the inn.  After a while they would die but then rise again and move outside the inn in the street looking up at nothing.  We were stumped for a while trying to figure out what this all meant but finally Myrn took the dragontooth and ran with it which stopped the lighting.

Strange Things at the Graveyard

A man introduced himself as Brother Keefe the "Overseerer of all the permanent residents of Valhingen Graveyard". The clerics of Kelenivor got reports that one of the residents, Xandria Welltran, was in fact a polymorphed dragon.  We were hesitant at first to help but he offered us 100GP to help.  The initial part of the crypt was trapped with a poison gas mechanism that almost did us in.  The crypt was small but we did in fact find evidence that there was necromancy magic happening down there.  The biggest chamber was infested with zombies that were pretty nasty.  AFter we informed Brother Keefe what we found he told us that he was a member of the Lords Alliance and that The Welcomers may well be involved in this.

Rescue the Farmers

A peat farmer from outside of town was maniac in the streets.  She said her husband and sons had been taken hostage by a band of goblins.  The Black Fist guards were no help of course, they weren't going to do anything so we stepped in.  They even gave us a 50GP voucher that was payment for them to do it but they were too lazy to so they passed it on to us.  We tracked the goblins to a cave on the other side of the bog where they were hiding out.

Encountered a strange hooded figure at the entrance to the cave that was a magic user of some sort as he disappeared into thin air.  Had some annoying goblins at the entrance that were spitting arrows at us from a couple murder holes.  Also our Bagheera tripped a wire that caused a small cave in but he was alright.

When we finally got to the prisoners we encountered a nasty bugbear but he proved no match for our bard with his spells and brightly colored pants.  We got the farmers out but one of the prisoners was an explorer of sorts.  He knew that a few other adventurers came here when a black dragon was living here to slay it but never returned.  He was in the middle of investigating when he got caught and imprisoned by the goblins.

The explorer ended up giving us a bag of gems, we got the 50GP from the guards and we recovered a black dragon scale.

The Dragon Egg

We took a job from a member of The Harpers to pose as merchants to finish a deal for a red dragon egg.  Got a bag of diamonds for the buy but they turned out to be fake.  Deal went south but we were able to retrieve the egg but not before we got jumped by a group of thieves from the Welcomers guild.  Dispatched all but one of them but after interrogation he didn't know anything.

Returned with the egg to the harper and was paid 200GP.  Harper did say they have seen an increased interest in all things related to dragons. They have also heard of more dragon sightings in the Moonsea region—and elsewhere. We should keep our eyes and ears open for further information on dragons. That it might save our lives
